Bisalen Ointment
Bisalen® 30g Ointment
Active Ingredient: Ginger
Use: Relieves joint and muscle pain and inflammation
The herbal Bisalen ointment is made from the active compounds of the rhizome of the ginger plant, scientifically named Zingiber officinale, commonly known as “Ginger.” Ginger has been used medicinally for a long time and is also used in modern herbal medicine.
Important active compounds of this plant include:
-
Essential oils such as Zingiberene, Curcumen, Beta-bisabolene
-
Aryl alkanes such as Gingerol and Shogaol
According to many studies on gingerol and shogaol, these two compounds selectively inhibit cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) and lipoxygenase, producing anti-inflammatory effects.
NSAID drugs inhibit both COX-1 and COX-2 enzymes. Since COX-1 is present in all tissues and COX-2 is produced only during inflammation, inhibiting COX-1 can cause side effects. Therefore, Bisalen, by selectively inhibiting COX-2, is an effective and suitable choice.
Indications:
Pain and inflammation of joints and muscles, including rheumatic pain, arthritis, lumbar and cervical disc pain, various joint, bone, and muscle pain, and soreness after heavy activity.
When applied topically, due to their suitable molecular size and moderate solubility in water and fat, these compounds penetrate the skin well. As a result, anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving effects appear quickly after topical application and gentle massage.
Dosage:
Apply a thin layer of ointment on the affected area 3–5 times daily and gently massage.
Side effects:
No specific side effects have been reported for topical use.
Use during pregnancy and lactation:
Long-term use during pregnancy should be under medical supervision.
Topical use is allowed during breastfeeding.
